you're not camera shy

Hey Reader,

10 years ago, I was walking around London with a crappy camera, shitty teeth, and a wild idea:

"Maybe I'll vlog my life like Casey Neistat"

It was awful 🤣

Talking to a camera in public felt like torture. Everyone stared, and friends/coworkers asked: "What are you doing?"

I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew I liked the idea of documenting my life.

Then came Vine, and it died. Then IGTV, with horizontal videos nobody wanted to watch on Instagram.

Then TikTok happened, and then Reels.

And somewhere in all of that, I quietly racked up a few thousand hours on camera.

Today, I can sit down, hit record, and talk to you like you're sitting next to me on the couch.

Even with a TV and a bed in the background (like in the photo in this email).

Here's what actually changed.

1/ I stopped giving a fuck about "people." When I hit record now, I'm thinking about you specifically: the coach who wants to post but overthinks every word, or the consultant with something useful to say who's worried about what their old coworkers from 2016 will think. "People" as a whole don't matter in what I decide every day.

2/ I started tracking my TTP (time to post). The longer I sat on an idea, the more likely it was to die in my Notes app. If I thought about a video for more than a few hours, chanced were I'd never publish it. So I minimized that time, and my TTP went from weeks to days to (now often) minutes.

3/ I embraced scripts instead of winging it. About half my content is scripted, and almost all my YouTube stuff is. I read the script out loud 3-4 times before even thinking about recording it. I do this while looking into the camera. That way I'm not stuck in my head when I do record, and it feels like I'm talking to you, not reading at you.

4/ I turned the energy knob way up. Cameras flatten energy, so if you talk like you normally do, you'll look half-asleep on screen. I learned to push my energy up a level or two. That's not MrBeast, just a slightly exaggerated me. It feels ridiculous in the room, but it reads as normal on camera.

But none of that matters if your videos never get posted. And for most coaches I talk to, that's exactly where they die: you record something good, and then editing turns it into a project you never finish.

That's why I launched the AI Content for Coaches community. it's such a fun place to hang out, and we talk every single week. The US/EU call is today (in 3 hours!) and it's where you can ask me anything related to content, AI, or both!

Only 4 spots left at the special intro price of $97/mo then the price goes up forever.

Talk soon,
Rob

Hey Reader, A lot of you grabbed the free AI skill that edits your videos for you. But there's one thing I didn't really talk about in the mini-course, and I think it's the coolest part: It can copy video styles. For example... You can drop in an Instagram or YouTube you love. The skill will: Download it Analyze the editing, captions, pacing, colors It will even dig into the style of the animations Then recreate that style so you can use it on your own videos Here's the proof Original video:...

Hi Reader, If you hate editing your own videos, this one's for you. I just recorded a video showing the brand new Attention Machine AI editing skills that I use on many video I post. They cut the rambling, add captions, animations, photos, b-roll, and keep it all in your style. Heck, they can even copy existing video styles to make them yours. Plus, they're free, because I'd rather you use them and tell me what's missing: If you need help. Want help putting this to work in your business? I'm...

Hey Reader, I ran a little experiment on Instagram. One video, filmed outside in Dubai. Same clip, same caption, word for word. The only thing I changed was the red text hook on top. And the difference wasn't small. The setup. Here's exactly what I did, so you can copy it: One video. I didn't change a single frame. One caption. "Stop using Claude in…" on every version. Four text hooks. That's the only thing that was different. Posted as Trial Reels. Instagram shows those to people who don't...
