Hey Reader I spent weeks telling people to skip Opus 4.5. "Too expensive." I was wrong. The Setting That Changes EverythingOpus 4.5 without thinking mode is a Ferrari stuck in first gear. Flip on "Thinking" (or "ultrathink" in Claude Code) and it becomes a different beast entirely. Possibly the best coding model in the world right now. Yes, including the brand new GPT-5-Codex-Max. The Setup That's Been Crushing ItHere's my exact workflow in Cursor this week:
High-intelligence (but slower) for planning. Lower-intelligence (but faster) for building it out. The results have been consistently better than anything else I've tested. "But Rob, It's So Expensive"That's true, but a terrible mindset. Opus 4.5 costs roughly 2.5x more than GPT-5. Here's how I think about it: If it saves me 5-10 hours of debugging per month, it pays for itself. If you're billing clients or building products, the math isn't even close. Remember that you charge for results and outcomes, not the work you put in. Time > tokens.
Want to watch me build with this exact setup? I just dropped new live sessions inside the AI Builder's Blueprint - real projects, real workflows, no fluff. Join 213+ founders who are shipping instead of watching → Get Access Now Two Limitations Worth KnowingFirst, if you use Claude Code in a terminal, it's a lot of fun. You can run multiple agents, use skills, and it feels fast. But... your project's code will turn into spaghetti as you lose track of your architecture. Second, you can also run it inside of Cursor, which is fine. But... that setup doesn't let you run multiple chats at the same time, which sucks. I still struggle between these two workflows, and tend to fall back to the terminal myself. The Bottom LineOpus 4.5 with thinking enabled might be the best coding AI available right now. The race is getting spicy. And if you're not testing these models yourself, you're falling behind. Talk soon, Rob P.S. Coder of 20+ years teaching non-technical people how to build their own software business in 30 days with AI. No devs or code required.
Hey Reader I've never told anyone this story. And if you think you're "too old" or "not technical enough"... This one's for you. Here's a confession: I haven't written a single line of code in 11 months. Not one. And yet I build apps every single day. Let me explain. The Backstory I started learning to code when I was 13. Windows 95. C++ and Pascal (dinosaur languages today). For 20 years I loved it. Made good money. Built a career. Then I started watching kids do in 2 hours what took me a...
Hey Reader, You know why building with AI feels so damn hard? It's not because you're not technical enough. It's not because the tools are too complicated. It's because everything changes every 48 hours. A new model drops. New tool launches. Someone on Twitter says Cursor is dead. Someone else says Claude Code is the future. Then Antigravity does something. Then Codex gets an update. And you're sitting there thinking... "What the hell am I supposed to use?" I Just Proved This (The Hard Way)...
Hey Reader, I need to tell you something. For the last 2+ weeks, I went all-in on Claude Code and Codex. Zero Cursor. Cold turkey. I even documented it publicly on Twitter. Then yesterday happened. Cursor Stole Everything I'm running Cursor's developer version (not public yet). And I almost spit out my coffee when I saw the new settings. Full support for Claude Code and Codex agent skills. There's even support for Claude Commands and Plugins. It's like they looked at everything that made...
