OpenAI's new $500 plan (and what it means)

Hey Reader,

Yesterday, OpenAI had their biggest event of the year: DevDay 2026.

There were too many announcements to count, and some of them will change how we run our businesses for good.

So I went through all of it and picked the 3 that actually matter to you, and what each one means for your content.

1. Dots, your new assistant.

Dots is a personal assistant that lives right inside ChatGPT.

If you've heard of Hermes, OpenClaw, Instinct, or Poke, it works a lot like those.

The big difference is that it runs on GPT-6 Astra, one of the best AI models in the world.

And it already has your connectors, your memory, and your subscription.

It even gets its own computer in the cloud, so it keeps working while you're out and about.

It's like hiring a PA who already knows your inbox on day 1.

I set mine up to send me my daily to-dos and the emails that actually need me, and I've had it do some research for me too.

For the next month it's free if you're on the $200 plan or higher, and it doesn't touch your usage.

Now the content part.

Once the editing is handled, the hard part is knowing what to post.

So give your Dot that job. Ask it for 3 post ideas every morning, pulled from the questions your clients asked you that week.

Let it research your competitors or your own accounts with tools like Composio, RocketAPI or Apify to get more context.

But arguably the biggest announcement....

2. Your ChatGPT plan works in other apps.

This is a huge deal.

You can now sign in with ChatGPT inside other apps, like Notion and Lovable.

Using the subscription that you already pay for, instead of paying extra.

Before this change, apps had to charge you a lot extra just to cover the AI.

It's like your phone plan suddenly working abroad with no roaming fees.

And it's the very thing Anthropic is known to ban people for (!).

People are going to use this a lot, me included.

I'm adding it to The Attention Machine as soon as it opens up to us, so you can raise your limits without paying more.

3. A new $500/mo plan.

This one is controversial.

OpenAI cut the limits on their $200 plan in half, then launched a $500 plan next to it.

That's 2.5 times the price for only 25% more usage than the old $200 plan had.

But honestly... this has been a long time coming.

Running AI models is extremely expensive, and even at $500 a month you're still getting $15-20 of AI for every dollar you spend.

I guarantee Anthropic won't be far behind.

So what now?

Trust me when I say the highest intelligence AI will never be this cheap again.

AI itself does get cheaper, yes, but the highest intelligence will only cost more from here.

So don't wait for the perfect setup, the "best new AI skills" or another excuse you make up on the spot.

Take one of the countless videos you recorded but never edited, and ask Codex/Claude to edit it this week.

Talk soon,
Rob

Hey Reader, People keep asking me whether Claude or Codex is better at editing videos. And the answer... just changed (again). Editing is mostly writing. So, here's the thing. AI can't really hear your video. It relies on a transcript with a time stamped on every single word. Once that's in place, the AI reads everything you said and makes the edit based purely on what makes sense. That's how it cuts the uhs and ums, the repeated takes, and even the silences. It's like editing an script on...

Hey Reader, Every day, someone on my feed posts the same lie. "Claude edited this video in just two minutes, I just dragged it in!!!" This is complete bullshit. I know, because I spent the last 2 months and $70k+ in AI costs solving this. Most of that went into building my own editor, more on that at the end. But the basic version takes just 3 tools and about half an hour of setup. Here's how you can test it yourself for free. How it actually works. The 3 tools you need are (1) Scribe by...

Hey Reader, I'm changing what I teach in these emails. Most of you joined because I showed you how to build apps with AI on YouTube. Now I'm putting that same engineering brain into video editing and social media content. Because the truth is... I've built this for myself. I've spent over 5 years editing my own YouTube videos. And honestly, making content has always felt like another job. I don't mind talking on camera. But all the work around it has always been a pain in the ass. Running a...
